    What is the One Tournament Nationals Road to St Georges Park?

    One Tournament Nationals is a grassroots football tournament for U8 to U15 teams in the 19/20 season. There are 4 regional events and the winner of each age group at each region will meet in the grand final at St Georges Park National Football Centre.

    The regional tournaments are held at high-quality football facilities (See Locations) in Yorkshire, Shropshire, London and Bristol.

    Each regional will have only have 12 teams or under competing so teams entering have a real chance of qualifying for the finals.

    Every player attending the regional events will receive a medal, and there will be multimedia coverage at each event.
    * U14 and U15 have 2 regional events rather than 4.

    What is the One Tournament England Experience?

    Our One Tournament England Experience is a grassroots football tournament held at St Georges Park National Football Centre. Teams aged U7 to U12 in the 19/20 season can enter, no qualification is necessary.

    Teams will play in a 12 or 16 team tournament, and the tournament usually last between 4 or 5 hours long. Teams from across the UK enter and all abilities are welcome.

    Every player gets a medal and weather permitting teams get to sing the national anthem before a match and one of their matches are covered by our love multi media coverage.

    We have hosted 500 teams at St Georges Park National Football Centre since 2017. For 2020 we are advising teams to book early as we have limited spaces due to the Euros being held in the UK. Each age group will sell out well in advance.

    How many players are you allowed in a team?

    In 5-a-side age sections, a maximum of 5 substitutes can be listed in a playing squad. In, 7-a-side, 9-a-side and 11-a-side age sections, a maximum of 7 substitutes can be listed in a playing squad.

    Can we bring guest players to the tournament?

    Teams are permitted to register a maximum of two ‘guest players’ at our tournaments.Guest players are players who are not currently registered with your club. They must produce documentary evidence to your club secretary to prove that they are the correct age and they must bring these documents with them to the festival.

    Can unaffiliated teams play in the tournaments?

    All teams attending One Tournament must be affiliated to a County, Area or School Football Association. Academy teams affiliated to professional clubs and ‘representative’ sides are not permitted to enter our tournaments.

    What is the length of the games?

    5v5 games are 10 minutes long and played straight through
    7v7 games are 10 minutes long and played straight through
    9v9 games are 14 minutes long and played straight through
    11v11 games are 20 minutes long and played straight through

    What is the format on the day?

    For the One Tournament Nationals, the 7v7 tournament teams will be split into 2 groups of 6 where teams will play a minimum of 5 matches. The top 4 teams in each group go through to the Quarter Finals knockouts.

    For 9v9 it will be a 12 team tournament and the top 2 qualify for the semi-finals.

    For 11v11 it is a 10 team tournament, 2 groups of 5, top 2 qualify for the semi-finals

    For the One Tournament England Experience

    Our 7v7 will be a 16 team tournament team will be split into 4 groups of 4 where teams will play 3 group matches. The top 2 teams in each group will go through to the Cup competition and the teams in 3rd and 4th will go through to the Plate competition where teams will play another 3 group games before the top 2 teams in each group compete in the Cup and Plate Finals.

    The 9v9 will be groups of 5 and the top 2 qualify for a semi-final knock out.

    For 5v5 we usually go with 2 groups of 6 the top 4 of each group will go through to either a cup or plate competition.

    Do teams need to bring player ID documentation?

    All teams need to bring player identification documents with them to our tournaments in the event that a players eligibility needs to be confirmed. Identification documents can include player ID cards, WGS team documents, Birth Certificate or Passport

    Can players play up an age group?

    Players are permitted to play up one age group and the following age qualifications apply for our 2020 tournaments

    Please note, In accordance with FA rules, once a player has turned 6 years of age they will be permitted to participate in the U7 age section at One Tournament 2020.

    Can boys and girls play together?

    Boys and girls are permitted to play together in all age groups.

    Will you be running girl’s only tournaments?

    Our girl’s only tournaments will run every other year so no female only events in 2020 but keep an eye out for our 2021 calendar of events

    What time should we arrive?

    Teams can arrive up to 1 hour before the tournament starts and there will be a team managers meeting 20 minutes before games kick off which all team managers should attend

    What should players wear on match days?

    Astro turf trainers or moulded studs must be worn on artificial pitches (strictly no blades or studs to be worn in no circumstances)

    All footwear including blades and studs can be worn on grass pitches

    All players must wear shin pads

    What prizes and trophies will be awarded on match days?

    At the majority of our tournaments, we will run Cup and Plate competitions so there will be 2 sets of winners and Runner Up medals handed out on the day along with Winner Cups. All players that do not make it through to the Finals will receive a participation medal for taking part

    When do we need to pay the booking fee in full?

    When teams are making a booking they can either pay in full or make a minimum 50% booking fee payment to confirm the team’s place. Teams who make a deposit payment are given 6 week period to make payment in full. If teams fail to make full payment with the 6-week window their booking will be cancelled and the deposit will be lost. Please note the deposit option is taken down on 1st February. All bookings after this will need to be paid in full on booking.

    If we win one of the regional tournaments do we automatically qualify for the National Finals at St Georges Park and is there a cost involved?

    The One Tournament Road to St Georges Park National Final is an invitation-only event for winners of the regional event which is free of charge to participating teams. A £100 deposit is required from all teams to confirm their attendance. This deposit payment will be refunded to all teams who attend the National Final but is non-refundable to teams who, after confirming their attendance, do not attend. The finals will be played on the weekend of the 22nd/23rd August.

    Can we cancel our place and get a refund?

    If you book onto a tournament and cancel the booking within 7 days of the original booking we will give you a full refund. Cancellations made after 7 days of the original booking will be non-refundable.

    Set in spectacular surroundings, Lilleshall is one of the UK’s National Sports Centres, training grounds and centres of excellence for the country’s leading sportsmen and women.

    Our tournaments take place on the same pitches where Englands 1966 team trained. The former National Football centre still boast A grade grass pitches used by professional clubs.
